Many years ago I had no real life experience, but I understood that people around the globe, for the most part, want to help others in need.

My contemporary Haitians would remember the program “Plan de Parrainage Haitien” (Haitian Plan Parenthood) which was crafted especially to help needy children was financed by compassionate individuals all over the world.

The small voucher/check of $12 USD my younger brother, the youngest of our eleven-member household (including my parents), was getting was actually one of the main income sources that fed our family.

We were very thankful to a sponsor from the Netherlands that, for several years, contributed to the welfare of our family and are forever grateful to God who loved us before the foundation of the world and never stopped providing.

I do not recall the name of my brother’s benefactor, but I had the opportunity to read many letters my family had received from her.  My parents made sure they prayed for her and her family in the Netherlands. This is an example of countless deposits made by many special individuals - making a difference in children's lives.

The Birth of a Vision

"These are my children! Would you take care of a few for me"?

This question, quietly posed to me by God in 2005, couldn’t be any clearer. My family has always supported struggling families in Haiti.  And, so I thought, "Could this be just a little more that God now requires of us"?

The days and weeks that followed, God began to lay out His plan and deposited the vision in my heart - Care for the  underpriviledged children, the orphans,  and the elderlies.

As I prayed, I learned to listen to God’s direction and started making small steps of faith. Seven years later God began to bring people, like the Grecos, the Andrulevichs, to share the vision. Many more have joined us since, and they are working with us to fulfill the great commission.

Our hearts can take and lead us where our minds draw us to. It is our responsibility to feed, educate, clothe, and shelter our orphans.

His Work International is called by God to do its part. The essence of its existence is to take on the same work and responsibilities that countless individuals have inspired others to continue.
